Your Carer Passport in Devon

An introduction

Devon Carers and Devon County Council are pleased to announce the launch of the nationally recognised Carers Passport scheme for unpaid carers in Devon.

What is a Carers Passport?

Our Carers Passport in Devon is a handy wallet to keep your carers ID card, alert card and information booklet. It is a record that identifies an unpaid carer and leads to the provision of support, services or other benefits. 

Carer Passports in Devon contain the following:

Information booklet

Co-produced with Carer Ambassadors, the booklet contains essential information, contact numbers and useful hints and tips on a range of subjects from being an expert partner in care to what your rights are at work. There is also space to record relevant information about you and the person you care for.

Carer ID card

This identification card enables you to demonstrate that you are a carer registered with Devon Carers and will give you access to a range of benefits and discounts that are available through the Carer Friendly Devon scheme.

Carer alert card

If you have a Devon Carers Alert Card, there is a pocket to store it within the passport wallet. Alternatively, you may wish to keep your alert card in your wallet, purse or bag, or where someone might look in an emergency should you be taken ill, injured, or otherwise unable to communicate. The card will be used to alert a 24-hour emergency call centre that you are temporarily unable to care for the person you support, and they will then call one of your nominated contacts.
